1. What is the difference between aggression and violence?
2. How is violence used as a strategy in non-contact sports? Provide an example?
3. What is the sport ethic and what are the (4) norms of the sport ethic as listed in your notes?
4. What is over-conformity in sport? How does it relate to deviance?
5. Who is most likely to engage in over-conformity through sport? Why?

1. Agression is accepted during play within a game and could add excitement for those watching. Violence is intentional use of force to harm others and can lead to death which is not acceptable in sports.
ReplyDelete2. Violence could be used as strategy in non-contact sports because the fans could use the venue to provoke each other so their teams could play well then afterwards meet at another location to act upon their violent tendencies. Example would be street gangs attending soccer matches.
4. Sport ethics is the study of philosophy which could help determine what is best for the organization of sports. 4 of the sport norms are enviornment, role models and the theories. Utilitarian, golden rule, Kant and deontological.
4. Over-conformity is violent agression that is acceptable to that sport. Over-conformity is also neglecting ones self or others to maintain focus on competeing for the win. It relates to deviance because they both can be unethical actions.
5. A rookie is most likely to engage in over-conformity because he/she could neglect his/her loved ones or even onself to win. This happens because he/she wants to be accepted in their new organization and fame.
