  1. The purpose of sport to me is passion and competition (internally and externally). Both reasons are the cause for playing a sport and passion is my main motive for watching sports. While using soccer as an example, I played from the age of 4 through my first year in college. It started as pure fun and simple play. However, as I got older, it became more intense and through this the main motivation became competition. I think we might all agree on that. Because I do not play soccer regularly I would have to say today, the main purpose of sport is passion, the love of the game. That passion is what keeps me connected to athletics and led me to taking this class.

  2. In response to Sam. Passion is what keeps people involved in sport and when it fades, it is one of the internal reasons why many people leave an activity they loved. However, as Sam mentions the passion never truly fades even when you quick participating. It just never seems to leave you completely. I look forward to hearing from the rest of the class.

  3. I agree with both statements because once you start playing a sport it is basically impossible to to lose interest entirely with that sport. The passion and competitive nature of sports is so appealing because I have a strong competitive nature as well as a strong love for sports in general. That is also why I decided to take this class.
